From radio waves to campfires
There’s something about preparing for a camping trip that feels almost as exciting as the trip itself. Maybe it’s the anticipation, or the quiet promise of unplugging for a while. With my trip just two weeks away, I’ve found myself doing what any soon-to-be camper does—making lists, checking gear, and wandering through stores imagining all the possibilities waiting out there.
This time, though, it feels different. This isn’t just any trip it’s my first time camping. That realization brings a mix of excitement and uncertainty. I don’t just want to have everything I need; I want to get it right. Every item I pick up feels important, like it’s part of a bigger learning experience I’m about to step into.
Today, while driving between errands, something unexpected happened. A familiar melody drifted through the radio—“Don’t Dream It’s Over.” Instantly, I was transported. It wasn’t just the song; it was the feeling tied to it. Warm evenings, simpler days, and memories of times when everything felt a little lighter. It reminded me of why I want to try camping in the first place: not just to get away, but to reconnect—with nature, with memories, and maybe even discover something new about myself.
And I can't wait to see where this takes me.
